Delta 8

What is Delta-8?

Delta 8 THC, sometimes called "weed lite," is a cannabinoid found naturally in cannabis plants and is a primary ingredient in hemp-derived products. Although Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC share similar names, they are distinct cannabinoids with unique properties. Both are naturally present in cannabis and produce psychoactive effects when consumed. The key difference lies in their molecular structures:

Delta 8 THC features a double bond on the eighth carbon in its chain, while Delta 9 THC has this bond on the ninth carbon. This small molecular shift is significant, leading to Delta 8's reputation as "diet weed" or "marijuana lite" due to its milder effects and legal status under federal law.

Delta 8 THC's effects can be almost instantaneous when inhaled as a vape, much faster than when consumed as hemp flowers or edibles.

Delta 8's legality on a federal level stems from the H.R. 2: The Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018, commonly known as the 2018 Farm Bill, which allows hemp derivatives with less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC on a dry weight basis.
